Kentucky cities can apply for 2026 Litter Abatement Grant funding to help keep their communities clean.
The money must be used for direct expenses cities incur in the 2026 calendar year associated with litter control programs, litter cleanup on public roads, and other requirements established in KRS 224.43-345.
Applications must be submitted to the Kentucky Energy and Environment Cabinet’s Department for Environmental Protection by 4:30 p.m. on Nov. 3, 2025. The amount of funding each city is eligible to receive will be determined after the submission deadline and will be calculated in accordance with statutory requirements. Funds awarded but not spent during calendar year 2026 must be reimbursed to the cabinet by April 15, 2027.
