Cities Can Partner in Mental Health Initiative

Kentucky cities can strengthen local mental health support systems through a new program offered by the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services and the Department for Behavioral Health, Developmental & Intellectual Disabilities.

The 1915(i) RISE Initiative is a new Medicaid-funded program that expands home- and community-based services for adults with mental illness. Department officials believe Kentucky communities could benefit from the program through local government participation or by sharing this opportunity with eligible nonprofit and social service partners in their area.

Municipal agencies may already provide some of the services, including case management, housing and tenancy navigation, education and employment support, transportation, and more.

The department is hosting weekly 1915(i) Rise online office hours each Monday and Wednesday from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. ET for providers to learn more. Click here to register, or email for more information.
