KLC Officials Present 2026 Legislative Agenda

Kentucky League of Cities officials outlined the 2026 KLC Legislative Agenda to members of the Interim Joint Committee on Local Government.

KLC President and Beaver Dam Mayor Paul Sandefur, KLC Executive Director/CEO J.D. Chaney, and KLC Government Affairs Director Gracie Kelly shared key issues for cities in the upcoming session, including four main priority philosophies:

  1. Growing Kentucky’s economy through stronger infrastructure, business-ready communities, and modern revenue tools.
  2. Protecting public safety to keep neighborhoods, schools, and businesses secure.
  3. Modernizing infrastructure and services to support economic growth and to improve the quality of life.
  4. Streamlining and saving taxpayer dollars, and making government work efficiently.

The Kentucky Association of Counties also presented alongside KLC at the committee meeting, highlighting the progress made over the past decade in simplifying the process of local occupational taxing.
