KLC Seeks City Representative for Geographic Information Advisory
The Kentucky League of Cities is seeking qualified applicants to serve as its nominee for appointment to the Kentucky Geographic Information Advisory Council.
Established under KRS 42.740, the council advises on geographic information systems (GIS) and related policies that help state and local governments improve public administration through the efficient use of geographic information. The council also works to promote coordination among agencies, reduce duplication of GIS efforts, and help ensure the state's GIS clearinghouse effectively serves government entities across Kentucky.
KLC is responsible for submitting six nominees to the governor, who will appoint one city representative to serve on the 25-member council. Applicants should have experience with GIS technology. State law also requires that nominees not be lobbyists for, or have a financial interest in, a GIS company doing business with the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
The appointment carries a four-year term, is unpaid and has no statutory meeting schedule. The current KLC-appointed representative's term expires Sept. 26, 2026.
