With temperatures dropping again after an unseasonably warm weekend — and strong wind gusts making it feel even colder — cities are encouraged to use Kentucky Emergency Management’s (KYEM) Warming Shelter Dashboard to help residents find safe, warm locations across the commonwealth.
Cities can notify KYEM or Director Eric Gibson when a shelter opens so it can be listed, and report when it closes to keep information current. On the interactive map, green circles show open shelters and red circles indicate respite or warming centers. Local emergency management officials can also use the tool to support community response.
Cold Safety Reminders
Kentucky cities continue to play a critical role in keeping residents safe during winter weather. Reporting shelters helps ensure people can quickly find relief when conditions turn dangerous.
