The Kentucky League of Cities is once again offering matching grants for KLC Insurance Services (KLCIS) liability customers. Eligible cities can use a liability grant for various expenses that aim to improve safety and prevent liability losses. Topics covered include vehicles, personnel services, mowers, law enforcement, parks, slip and fall protection, utilities, and cybersecurity.
KLC will accept applications from September 13 – November 5, 2021. Only one application per liability insurance member.
Invoices or purchase orders or receipts must be attached to the grant and returned at the same time. Purchase orders, invoices, and receipts can be dated July 1, 2021, to November 5, 2021. Due to the popularity of the grant, KLC advises members to apply early. If grant applications exceed available funds, KLC will process grants on a first-come, first-serve basis.
To apply for a 2021 liability grant, log into your klc.org account here. Once you are logged in, scroll down until you see "Member Resources" on the bottom right side (see desktop example on right) or at the bottom in mobile view. Click on "2021 KLC Liability Grant" at the bottom of the member resources list. Persons wishing to complete the online application must be authorized to access the member’s insurance claims information.
The Liability Grant is a 50/50 matching grant for approved purchases. Members with liability premiums before taxes less than $35,000 are eligible for up to $1,500 grant reimbursements; members with Liability premiums before taxes of $35,000 and above are eligible for up to $3,000 grant reimbursements.
KLC Director of Loss Control Greg Partin will discuss liability grants and eligible expenses in a free informational webinar on September 14 from 10:00 – 10:45 a.m. EDT. You can register here.
Liability grants are made available through KLCIS ‒ a self-insured, member-owned program governed by a Board of Trustees comprised of representatives from the participating members. Cities, their agencies, boards, commissions, units of local government, and other non-profit public purpose organizations are eligible to participate in our insurance programs. KLC Insurance Services offers general liability, public officials’ liability, law enforcement liability, and automobile coverages on an occurrence basis, with no annual aggregate limit. Cyber liability and sewer backup liability are also available.
