KLC Education Program Named One of the Nation’s Best

The Kentucky League of Cities offers Kentucky students one of the nation’s top educational programs. The National Association of Government Communicators awarded KLC’s program second place in the 2026 Blue Pencil and Gold Screen Awards for the educational or promotional K-12 category.

Little Citizens equips K–2 teachers with engaging lesson plans, activities, and printables that make civics education accessible, meaningful, and fun. The program helps students better understand their communities and their roles in them.

The current school year is winding down, making this the perfect time for Kentucky educators and administrators to make plans to bring this nationally recognized program into their classrooms next year. With no cost to participate, Little Citizens offers a ready-to-use, high-quality solution that aligns with state standards and delivers proven impact. To learn more and enroll your students, contact KLC Government Affairs Coordinator Deanna Brandstetter or call 859.977.3700.

KLC Director of Communications and Marketing Michele Hill was also recognized. Her writing portfolio featuring articles published in KLC’s Kentucky City magazine finished in a tie for first place with the City of Naperville, Illinois.
