Cities encouraged to learn about opportunity zones

Some Kentucky cities may be designated as opportunity zones in 2026 by the Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development.

The zones are economically distressed communities that may be eligible for new investments under certain conditions. They are designed to prioritize speed, scale, market knowledge, and an uncapped and back-loaded benefit that requires investors to use their own capital and absorb the majority of the risk.

A webinar is scheduled for Monday, Nov. 17, from 1-2 p.m. EST. City leaders can learn about significant changes from previous years, site criteria, and important deadlines. No registration is required.
