2023 PHMSA Lowers Random Drug Testing Rates
The Federal Department of Transportation (DOT) announced its random drug and alcohol testing rates for 2023. Effective Jan. 1, 2023, the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) lowered the random drug testing rate from 50% to 25%. If your city has PHMSA employees, which includes gas and pipeline workers, be certain the city drug testing policy reflects this change. For all other DOT employees, all random drug and alcohol testing rates remain unchanged from 2022.
