City EDvantage Session: What Makes a "Smart City" Smart?

Tuesday, October 27
10:00 - 11:00 a.m. EDT

A smart city is more than just the technology it uses. A smart city focuses on management, security and procurement. In Kentucky, most cities don’t need an app to guide to parking or to help avoid traffic jams, but they can benefit from smart infrastructure upgrades - paid for with the savings. LED lighting (building and street) connected with real time adjustments and feedback, real-time energy monitoring, Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI), and water and wastewater treatment plant upgrades all make cities and city budgets “smarter.”

During this session we will discuss local challenges and gain insights on how this type of infrastructure can help officials efficiently operate their utilities and reduce pressure on rates.

Presenters: Anthony Wright, Brandon Marcum, Casey Borst, Slater Medley

Who should attend? Mayors, Commissioners, Councilmembers, City & Utility Managers, Public Works Directors
