Local Leader Workshop- Leading Through Adversity

Do you experience push-back and/or disagreements by citizens when you propose a plan to boost community and economic development? Are you looking for effective ways to communicate the needs of aging infrastructure to your citizens? Are you concerned that your city has lost faith in its leadership? This workshop will focus on the unforeseen challenges of being an elected official or community leader. With discussion and practical exercises geared towards enhancing communication and presentation skills, you should leave this class with a greater understanding of how to build a coalition in your community; how to foster support from your citizens; and how to lead in the face of adversity.

Registration: 9:30 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.
Workshop:
10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Lunch provided at 12:00 p.m.
Who Should Attend: Mayors, Councilmembers, Commissioners, City Managers, City Administrators, Other City Officials

Optional tour of the KLC offices and meet staff* after the workshop.

Credit: 4 hours of City Officials Training Center (COTC) credit and/or Training Incentive Program (House Bill 119) credit.

 This workshop is eligible for Certified Municipal Officer credit.
