The Opportunity Zones 2.0 program is now open for applications from eligible communities, featuring updated criteria and enhanced incentive offerings with a renewed focus on rural development. To support a successful statewide rollout, the Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development is leading an informational session to help city officials better understand the program’s objectives, requirements, and application steps.
Deven Richardson, director of Existing Business and Community Development for the Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development, will provide an overview of the transition from Opportunity Zones 1.0 to 2.0, explain the new application process for tract designation, and outline the specific criteria and considerations that communities must address when submitting tracts for selection. He will also highlight key changes that communities should know as they prepare applications under the updated program framework.
Following the presentation, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a brief Q&A session, during which local leaders can ask questions, share feedback, and engage directly on topics related to Opportunity Zones 2.0. Participants will also be encouraged to attend future turf meetings to further support effective implementation of the program across the commonwealth.
