Brownfield Basics: A Foundation for Economic Development in Kentucky

May 14, 2025

10:00 - 11:00 a.m. EDT

Vacant, abandoned, and potentially contaminated sites, also known as brownfields, pose environmental, public health, and economic challenges to Kentucky communities. When cleaned up and redeveloped, these properties can revitalize neighborhoods and downtown business districts while improving people's health and quality of life.

Join the Kentucky League of Cities and New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) Technical Assistance to Brownfield Communities Program (TAB) to learn how to plan for, assess, and clean up abandoned and potentially contaminated sites for various land uses and market these sites to developers. Representatives from NJIT TAB will discuss financial and technical assistance available from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Kentucky Brownfield Program, and NJIT TAB. This virtual workshop is for local officials, nonprofits, business leaders, and community members interested in learning about the transformative potential of brownfields.
