The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet’s Department of Rural and Municipal Aid (DRMA) Commissioner Bobbi Jo Lewis will host a webinar for cities on how to apply for three key funding programs. The webinar will take place on Sept. 30, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. EDT.
New opportunities include:
County Priority Projects Program (CPPP): Established during the 2024 legislative session, the CPPP introduces a new level of legislative oversight into project funding decisions. While the DRMA will continue to process applications and evaluate road conditions, lawmakers will now vote on which specific projects receive funding. Each year, $20 million has been appropriated for this program, with the first round of projects for FY25 approved through House Joint Resolution 92. To be considered for FY26 funding, submit your applications by October 15, 2024, using form TC 20-41.
County-City Bridge Improvement Program (CCBIP): With $25 million allocated for FY25, this program is designed to support the repair and replacement of county- or city-owned bridges that are included in the Federal Highway Administration’s National Bridge Inventory, and KYTC provides an Inspection Report for training requirements for the newly implemented County City Bridge Improvement Program. Applications will be accepted throughout the fiscal year, providing ample time to secure necessary funding.
Highway Contingency Fund: For roads facing hazardous conditions or emergencies, such as road slides or sinkholes, $5 million has been set aside in FY25. As with the CCBIP, applications will be accepted throughout the fiscal year.
