DLG Updates COLA for Mayor/Legislative Body
The Department for Local Government (DLG) recently issued a cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) to increase the maximum pay for mayors and legislative body members for 2026. The maximum yearly pay for mayors of home rule cities and all legislative body members is $97,887.93. The percentage of increase for the previous 12-month period is 2.7%.
Although many cities incorporate the COLA from DLG in their budgets, the state-approved COLA is not mandatory for cities.
