Life Jacket Loaner Program Grant – Due Feb. 15

In-kind grants from the Sea Town Foundation, Inc. are available to non-profit organizations, municipalities, law enforcement entities, businesses, and boating agencies to promote water safety. The purpose of this program is to make life jackets available for boating and other water activities at no cost. In addition to life jackets, grantees will receive signage, a press kit, and a program manual. Applicants may apply for a loaner stand building kit and life jackets, or just for life jackets without the stand.

Since 2008, the Sea Tow Foundation has distributed more than 100,000 life jackets to local businesses and organizations across the country. More than 1,300 life jacket loaner stations are currently in operation and placed in locations where boaters will have easy access to the life jackets, such as boat ramps, marinas, and parks. Boaters may borrow the life jackets in a variety of sizes at no cost and are asked to return them when they are finished so that they are available for others to use.

Organizations can also apply to replenish an existing life jacket loaner station, apply to provide life jackets for participants in a recurring event, or stock life jackets on your organization’s boats for the public.

Grants can be used to:

  • Build a new loaner station
  • Replenish existing life jacket stations.
  • Use for a recurring event.
  • Use on your organization's patrol boats for the public.

By applying, the group agrees to become a life jacket loaner station host that will manage and maintain any grant-funded life jackets and/or loaner stands from the Sea Tow Foundation.
