Waste Management 2023 Crumb Rubber Grant - Due April 3

The Kentucky Division of Waste Management’s 2023 Crumb Rubber/Tire-Derived Products Grant application period is now open.

This grant is focused on funding crumb rubber for the following:

• Poured-in-place playgrounds and walking trails
• Landscaping mulch projects
• Sidewalks or other surfaces
• Horse trailer or stall mats
• Tree wells or other products utilizing recycled Kentucky tires.

Projects that are not eligible for grants include athletic fields or loose crumb-rubber playground applications, tire-derived aggregate, tire-derived fuel, rubber-modified asphalt, or civil engineering projects.

This is a very competitive grant. The state asks that local governments not apply if they cannot get the project completed by the deadline of Dec. 31, 2023. 

Read the application carefully to meet all the required guidelines.

Grant funding comes from the Waste Tire Trust Fund, established in 1998 by the Kentucky General Assembly to receive fees collected from new tire sales. Applicants must provide matching funds equal to at least 25% of the project cost.
