Cybersecurity Resources Available to Cities

The Kentucky Office of Homeland Security (KOHS) and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) offer information and resources to help cities prepare for cybersecurity risks.

KOHS has scheduled a no-cost training webinar on Aug. 15, 2022, at 1:30 p.m. EST. The webinar will cover firewall log analysis, no-cost vulnerability scans, blocking malicious domains, and more. Click here to register for the webinar. Attendees do not need to have an IT background. 

The organizations also offer the First Steps to Cybersecurity to help cities prepare. They include:

  1. Know what you need to protect
  2. Develop a plan to protect yourself
  3. Join organizations that can help protect yours
  4. Test your plans and prepare for incidents

Kentucky cities have many cybersecurity resources and training opportunities available to them.

The Kentucky League of Cities offers its $1 million Kentucky League of Cities Insurance Services Cybersecurity Preparedness Grant program. Grant amounts can be as much as $15,000, and cities can use the funds for various preventative measures. Learn how to apply for the KLC Cybersecurity Preparedness Grant here.
