Consistent, accurate, and helpful public communication is essential for good government. In today's context, with so many options and preferences, it is challenging to establish reliable communication channels with the public. A well-designed, branded app for smartphones and computers is a good solution. Branded apps are easy to use and provide built-in tools for posting news and alerts, sending notifications, connecting to existing web resources, and highlighting important local attractions and services. This session will provide insight into considerations for implementing a branded mobile app and step-by-step instructions for posting news and alerts, preparing and sending notifications, and mapping local points of interest. The session will also touch on important issues, such as strategies for getting the public to install and use the app. Overall, the session will better prepare cities to leverage mobile apps to improve public communication and connection.
