General Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assists in the daily operation and maintenance of the wastewater plant, collection system, and sludge disposal in compliance with established procedures, standards, and federal, state, and local laws and ordinances.
• Inspects and/or monitors pumps, charts, gauges, wells, tanks, and meters daily.
• Monitors and maintains lift stations in accordance with established standards.
• Adds and adjusts chemicals in accordance with prescribed standards; collects and/or assists in the collection of samples.
• Prepares and maintains accurate reports/records; forwards water samples and reports as required.
• Performs servicing requirements to plant and equipment including preventive maintenance.
• Makes minor repairs and adjustments to plant and equipment and forwards requests for major repairs to supervisor.
• Assists in maintaining adequate inventory of spare parts, chemicals, equipment, and tools.
• Assists in maintaining clean and neat plant and grounds.
• Participates in continuing education program to obtain and maintain licenses.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Training and Experience: Graduation from high school/equivalent supplemented with sufficient work experience as a wastewater operator to have obtained a Class I or higher Wastewater Treatment Plant Operators License.

Pay Grade: 21, 24, 28.

Salary: Based on experience, $15-$22/hour.

Certification/Licensing/Requirements: Must be able to obtain and maintain a Class II WWTP Operator License within 12 months of employment. MUST possess and maintain a valid drivers’ license as a condition of continued employment. Must be able to respond to emergency situations outside of normal business hours. Must pass a background check and drug test as a condition of employment.
