GENERAL DESCRIPTION The purpose of this position is to facilitate activities related to the preservation of historic structures and districts and elevate awareness of Lexington¿s architectural history.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Bachelor's degree in historic preservation, architecture, history, or another related field. Master's degree in historic preservation preferred. Two (2) years of related experience Additional years of related education may substitute for years of related experience Additional years of related experience may substitute for years of related education

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Reviews project plans, proposal applications, and specifications of properties in historic districts to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local guidelines, regulations, and ordinances Federal 106 review process encompassing all federally funded project across LFUCG divisions relative to historic properties on or determined eligible for listing on the National Register of Historic Places Communicates with residents, property owners, architects, contractors, internal divisions and City offices, and other external organizations to provide technical assistance and explain requirements for historic preservation Conducts research and prepares various technical reports and presentations related to the preservation program and makes recommendations based on the appropriateness of proposed changes to buildings and landmarks Represents the division at internal and external meetings such as, but not limited to, Boards, Committees, and Commissions Conducts site visits to complete historic resources surveys, document buildings with pending demolition, and inspect commercial and residential properties for compliance, as assigned Reviews, prepares, issues, and approves permits, as assigned Composes letters, reports, and meeting minutes, completes open records requests, and other administrative duties as assigned Performs related work as assigned

SPECIAL LICENSE/CERTIFICATION Valid driver's license

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS All positions require drug testing and background check before employment and may require a post-job offer physical as stated in Ordinances 21-14(b), 22-13 and 23-16.

EXAMINATION Examination will be a training and experience evaluation from information provided on the application at filing deadline date.
