The City of West Point is seeking a part time bookkeeper/ City Clerk. This is an “in office” position that will be 20-25 hours per week.

Desired qualifications.

  • Minimum 3 years bookkeeping experience or equivalent education.
  • Computer skills and knowledge of software applications and Microsoft 365.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to understand and comply with all federal, state and local laws and regulations regarding city governance.
  • Previous experience preferred. City Clerk Responsibilities:
  • Record all financial transactions and maintain a complete general ledger bookkeeping system.
  • Record, edit and distribute minutes of council meetings.
  • Communicate effectively with management, government officials and staff.
  • Draft meeting agendas.
  • Record data and ensure that documents are stored, filed and maintained in compliance with all ordinances and laws.
  • Utilize multiple computer databases and software.
  • Prepare and maintain official reports, legal documents, financial records, and reference material.
  • Transcribe, type and proofread documents.
  • Distribute public correspondence and ensure that municipal records are accessible to the public.

This is a bonded position requiring an extensive background check.

Salary Information: Pay commensurate with qualifications and experience within the $16 - $25 per hour range.
