The Community Engagement and Early Literacy Support Intern will assist in the ongoing work of Read Ready Covington, an early literacy advocacy program sponsored by the City of Covington. The intern will support literacy programs at a variety of Covington sites, as well as public events in collaboration with RRC partner schools, centers, businesses and agencies throughout the year. A high level of oral and written Spanish proficiency is required. There will be opportunities to create/translate materials for programming in addition to communicating in-person, by phone, email with Spanish speaking families of preK- Grade 3 children. The intern may also be tasked with taking meeting notes and distributing/communicating the information with Champions, community partners, and Executive Advisory members along with other tasks as they develop throughout the school year. Required Skills and Abilities: Microsoft proficiency in using Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Canva Bi-lingual- English & Spanish Excellent Listening Skills Able to lift and carry 50 lbs. across distances Organizational Skills Proficiency with Google suite & posting content to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc. Duties may include the following: Setup, monitor, collect data, and maintain equipment in relation to RRC public use events. Coordinating Incentives for Mayor’s Challenge, Read Across Covington, and Word Walk Passport program. Communication with RRC members. Maintain accurate record keeping. Input data into the RRC program spreadsheets. Assist the director with book distributions, and delivery of program materials to partner sites. Other duties as they relate to promoting and supporting early literacy efforts in Covington, KY. Hours: 15-20 hours a week Position: Internship, Part time, Temporary.
