Manages APWA-accredited department of 63 employees in Engineering, Operations, Fleet, Environmental Compliance, and Facilities Management; approximately $19 million budget; directly manages seven employees, reports to the City Manager.
DUTIES:
Supervises, directs and evaluates assigned staff, handling employees concerns and problems, assigning work, counseling and recommending and approving disciplinary and other personnel actions. Establishes goals and objectives; prioritizes, assigns and monitors work projects on a frequent basis; monitors and spot checks status of capital and planning projects; develops, manages, reviews and approves bid documents, plans and specifications; administers contracts either directly or through division heads; performs project management on more complicated construction projects. Develops and executes annual departmental budget, activities, and priorities; forecasts and analyzes costs; and monitors and adjusts department spending, in accordance with administrative and legislative directives. Meets with citizens, community organization representatives, developers, utility managers, staff, city manager, and elected officials to discuss and resolve conflicts, explain and gauge impact of activities and policies, and to develop feasible solutions to issues. Coordinates variety of departmental activities and initiatives, making sure the City complies with all relevant mandates
Salary Information: $106,881 - $117,569; plus full benefits package
