GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The purpose of this classification is to maintain, inspect, repair and install HVAC in LFUCG facilities in proper working condition.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or GED; formal training or special courses that is equivalent to satisfactory completion of one (1) year of college education or specialized advanced training in HVAC; and, a minimum of six (6) years of skilled trades experience in HVAC; or, an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience Possesion of a valid driver's license
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Plans, schedules, and supervises the work of HVAC Techs on various tasks. Inspects, repairs, modifies, and installs the general operation of COMMERCIAL and/or RESIDENTIAL heating, air conditioning, and ventilating systems, equipment, (including compressors. Thermostats, fan controls, motors, filters, and belts) Repairs and replaces furnace and air conditioner leaks. Repairs and replaces water source heat pumps, defective parts in units and equipment and their controls, including thermostats, automatic switches, fan controls, damper motors, louvers, relays, heat exchangers, pressure controls, safety valves Conducts regular preventative maintenance on various HVAC, and makes necessary adjustments or repairs Orders supplies/materials required for job; requisitions supplies/materials and inspects for quantity and quality Schedules work and determines priority of repair jobs according to its importance. Prepares a daily work record of jobs performed, which includes a written record
SPECIAL LICENSE/CERTIFICATION
In order to qualify and must be maintained as a condition of continued employment this position requires: Journeyman HVAC License -LFUCG will provide continuous education. Universal EPA Refrigerant Technician Certification-LFUCG will provide training. ***Must obtain Bluegrass Cross Connection (backflow valve) license within the first six (6) months of employment and maintain the license as a condition of continued employment **Continued education is provided and License Fees**
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be available for on-call and call-back duty. Must be available to work evenings, weekends and holidays as assigned and on emergencies. Must be able to operate Urban County Government equipment and vehicles in a safe, prudent and responsible manner. All positions require drug testing before employment and may require a post-job offer physical as stated in Ordinances 21-14(b), 22-13 and 23-16. Pursuant to the Drug Free Workplace Act of 1988 and to sections 21-52, 22-34 and 23-50 of the Code of Ordinances, all employees must remain drug and alcohol free when reporting to work, while at work and while engaged in any work related activities. Based on Federal Regulations 19-10 this position may be eligible for and offered the hepatitis vaccinations. In addition, employees will be required to sign a statement stating they have accepted or declined the hepatitis vaccination.
EXAMINATION
Examination will be a training and experience evaluation from information provided on the application at filing deadline date.
Salary Information: The minimum hourly rate is $22.100 per hour
