GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The purpose of this classification support electrical needs of LFUCG through industrial technician level electrical and electronic installation, repair, and maintenance as well as upkeep of other related equipment to maintain proper working condition of LFUCG facilities.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

High school diploma or GED; formal training or special courses that is equivalent to satisfactory completion of one (1) year of college education or specialized advanced training in electrical studies; and, a minimum of six (6) years of electrical experience; or, an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Must have a Master’s Electrician License.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Responds, troubleshoots, and repairs electrical, electronic, computer, HVAC or other equipment malfunctions that may pose problems Ensures that safety and security devices are working properly and maintained to prevent malfunctions Diagnoses electrical problems and designs, modifies, and installs existing and new equipment Performs basic electrical duties including install and repair of conduit and wiring, interprets blueprints, and uses a variety of hand and power tools Assists with new projects and repairs as needed and attends design meetings with engineer Helps to size, layout, quote, install and maintain HVAC equipment Attends safety meetings to remain in compliance with OSHA, EPA, and LFUCG requirements and promote safety for workers and others Research and gather information for managers in regards to concerns about electrical, HVAC, security, and process controls Additional Duties: Performs related work as assigned.

Master’s Electrician License

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

May be required to possess a valid Kentucky driver’s license. Must be accessible for on-call duty. Must be able to operate Urban County Government equipment and vehicles in a safe, prudent and responsible manner. All positions require drug testing before employment and may require a post-job offer physical as stated in Ordinances 21-14(b), 22-13 and 23-16. Pursuant to the Drug Free Workplace Act of 1988 and to sections 21-52, 22-34 and 23-50 of the Code of Ordinances, all employees must remain drug and alcohol free when reporting to work, while at work and while engaged in any work related activities. Based on Federal Regulations 19-10 this position may be eligible for and offered the hepatitis vaccinations. In addition, employees will be required to sign a statement stating they have accepted or declined the hepatitis vaccination.

Salary Information: The minimum rate is $22.100 per hour
