GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The purpose of this classification is to provide legal services, counsel, opinions and representation for Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Juris Doctorate. No experience required. Must be a member of the Kentucky Bar, or have the ability to become a member within six (6) months of employment for permanent appointment. *May 2022 graduates are eligible to apply*

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Researches, drafts and reviews documents including motions and other court pleadings, memoranda of law legal briefs, contracts, internal policies and communications. Advises departments, divisions, boards, officials and employees on legal questions and concerns. Represents LFUCG in court and other legal proceedings. Prepares legislation. Performs related work as assigned.

SPECIAL LICENSE/CERTIFICATION

May be required to possess a valid driver's license

EXAMINATION

Examination will be a training and experience evaluation from information provided on the application at filing deadline date.

Salary Information: The minimum salary is $60,099.52 annually.
