General Duties: This position serves under the Investigation Supervisor. Working hours will not extend past twenty-four (24) hours in a week. Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to: maintaining evidence and property from entry until final disposition; maintaining and disseminating copies of crime lab reports for items processed; ensuring the room is adequately stocked with processing equipment; reviewing items that need to be stored or processed; providing organization and a clean, orderly workspace; protecting room from damage, deterioration, or theft; releasing evidence and property to authorized persons only; generating correspondence to officers to determine if a case has been adjudicated in order to destroy the items, assign it for use, or assign it for a sealed bid sale; transporting evidence to and from appropriate laboratory processing facilities as needed.

Education and Experience Qualifications: High school diploma or General Educational Development certificate (GED). Must posses a valid driver’s license. Knowledge of police practices preferred, but not required.

Additional Requirements: Will be required to pass a background check that includes a polygraph and periodic, unannounced drug tests. Must be bondable.

Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to enter information on all items (i.e. cash, drugs, and narcotics) into the evidence/property room computer, generate bar code to identify storage location in evidence/property room, and attach bar code to evidence/property package for identification and tracking. Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding evidence and case files. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with city officers and employees, other police departments/agencies, and the general public.

Salary Information: $15.00/hour
