Kentucky Municipal Clerks Association (KMCA) President and City of Hopkinsville City Clerk Crissy Fletcher announced Bethany Cooper, City of Benton City Clerk/Treasurer, as the 2020 Kentucky Municipal Clerk of the Year at Benton City Hall during a City Council meeting held on July 20, 2020.
President Fletcher stated, “I can’t think of a more deserving person for this recognition than Bethany. She often remains in the background diligently working and it’s time she be recognized for her service. Beth has been a tremendous asset to KMCA and its members.”
Cooper served as both Treasurer and Vice President on the KMCA Board and as President of the Purchase Region for several years. She was instrumental in planning the 2009 and 2017 spring conferences held at Kentucky Dam Village. Cooper obtained her Certified Kentucky Municipal Clerk and Kentucky Master Municipal Clerk designations from KMCA and her Certified Municipal Clerk designation from the International Institute of Municipal Clerks (IIMC).
When Mayor Rita Dotson was informed of Bethany’s nomination she wholeheartedly supported it. Mayor Dodson stated, “Beth strives for goodness. All while being resourceful for the City of Benton. She is a true asset and valued employee. Her determination and drive are top-notch.”
