The City of Shelbyville is accepting applications for a full-time administrative support clerk.

General Duties: Under the general supervision of the city administrator and/or the city clerk, the responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to: serving as the receptionist for city hall answering phones, greeting visitors, answering questions, directing inquiries to the appropriate person(s), and distributing mail. This position will also support the city clerk’s office by processing bank and tangible taxes; maintaining files and other records retention; preparing notices and processing property taxes, business licenses, and occupational taxes; and researching and preparing information for the city’s annual audit.

Education and Experience Qualifications: A high school diploma or General Educational Development certificate (GED) with two years of receptionist experience and two years of accounts payable experience. Applicants must be able to acquire the Certified Kentucky Municipal Clerk (CKMC) certification within three years from the date of hire.

Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: A working knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, and equipment; typing and computer knowledge; the ability to complete work assignments accurately and efficiently; the ability to deal courteously with the public; the ability to accept phone calls, greet visitors, and route to the appropriate department; the ability to establish and maintain a filing system accurately and efficiently; the ability to work independently as well as with a team; and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with city officers, employees, and the general public.

Salary Information: $18.65 - $22.40/hour based on education and experience. Excellent benefits.
