The National Leadership Grants for Museums program supports projects that address critical needs of the museum field and that have the potential to advance practice in the profession so that museums can improve services for the American public. Grant categories include collections care and public access; data, analysis, and assessment; digital platforms and applications; diversity and inclusion; and professional development. The application deadline is December 14, 2018.

Grant Amount: $5,000–$1,000,000
Grant Period: Up to three years

Cost Share Requirement: You must provide funds from non-federal sources in an amount that is equal to or greater than the amount of the request. No cost sharing is required for research projects or projects in the rapid prototyping $5,000 - $50,000 funding level.

Program Overview:
National Leadership Grants for Museums (NLG-M) support projects that address critical needs of the museum field and that have the potential to advance practice in the profession so that museums can improve services for the American public. NLG-M has five project categories. Note that these categories are changing for FY 2019 and are different from those in the FY 2018 NOFO:

Collections Care and Public Access
Data, Analysis, and Assessment
Digital Platforms and Applications
Diversity and Inclusion
Professional Development

Eligibility: Museums that fulfill the eligibility criteria for museums may apply. Public or private nonprofit agencies, organizations, or associations that engage in activities designed to advance museums and the museum profession may also apply. In addition, institutions of higher education, including public and non-profit universities, are eligible.
