Municipal budgeting can be a very complicated issue to navigate. This workshop will provide an overview of common finance issues including reading and preparing financial statements, basics of municipal budgeting, financial reporting requirements, practical internal controls, payroll process tips and what to expect during an audit of city finances. The session will provide an overview of the legal obligations cities face in the world of financial reporting and publication and also provide practical, real-world tips for handling common financial issues.

Who should attend? Any city employee who works with financial or budget related issues including city clerks, finance officers, treasurers, legislative body members, mayors and any finance officers who would like a refresher course in budget basics.
Credit: 7.5 hours of City Officials Training Center credit and/or Training Incentive Program (House Bill 119) credit. The event qualifies for 6.0 hours of CPE credit for accountants through the Kentucky Board of Accountancy.

KLC Cancellation Policy
Full refunds will be issued on cancellations made three days prior to the KLC training event in writing by email or fax. To keep training costs affordable to all of our members, no refunds can be given after this deadline because of meal and material considerations. Credit card payments will be refunded to the card that made the charge for cancellations made within the time frame. Attendees may also choose to send another representative from his or her city to use the registration.
