The city of Bonnieville (pop. 240) embarked on a journey to save their city and community. Faced with a declining population and few prospects for businesses or economic improvement, the mayor and council launched an agressive campaign to engage their citizens, create a strategic plan and then implement it. They embody the true meaning of "community spirit!"
Since 2009, the city of Bonnievlle has secured more than $750,000 in grants, donations and sweat equity. Nearly 100 citizens have shown up to paint the town, clean the town, host a Civil War re-enactment, upgrade infrastructure, build entrance signs and develop Frenchman's Knob. Their story is inspiring and sets an example for any city, regardless of size, to follow. Having fully implemented their first strategic plan, they are on a mission to do it again! Phase 2 is underway. Follow along as they make this journey together!
