Danville

The elected leaders of the City of Danville are emphatic about the city becoming more transparent and accountable to taxpaying citizens. In 2011 the city hosted a community forum for residents to express their ideas and opinions regarding the 2011-2012 city budget. The forum was held to educate the public as well as to obtain citizens’ input on revenues and expenditures. Additionally, an online survey was developed in order to gauge interest and to obtain feedback.

Upon completion of the budget process, city leaders re-engaged the public by providing a report that specifies the priorities of the citizens, describes how those suggestions were incorporated into the budget, and created accountability benchmarks to report results to the citizens on a quarterly basis.
